Want more clients? Don't invest into marketing, until...

Likes or money? I see it over and over that new entrepreneurs invest time, energy and money into “marketing”, be it posting on instagram, networking, crafting website copy or designing a business card.
And then, nothing happens. Maybe people like your content. But nobody hands you money for your service.

Then, people think they just need to do more marketing, be more present on social media, post more frequently and wait.

Nothing happens.

All while you get more and more frustrated. You start to think: Maybe my service is not valuable, there’s too much competition and you feel like giving up.

And here lies the problem: You don’t know what you stand for, for whom your service is valuable. So before you invest more into marketing, you need to figure out the basics.

Marketing is here so potential clients can find you. If potential clients don’t find you, it’s either that you talk to the wrong people, you’re not solving the right problems for them or your solution doesn’t seem valuable enough.

When people say they want marketing, what they really need are more clients. And they don’t know how to create them.

So before you invest into marketing, here’s the foundation you need:

  • Connection with self and clarity about your message, your mission, your WHY, however you want to call it. What do you stand for? Why do you do what you do? What’s the compliment that means the most to you? What gives you energy? When are you in flow? What comes so easy to you, yet others find it helpful and admirable?

  • Connection with your ideal client. Who is your ideal client? What are their needs, motivations, challenges and goals? What are they willing to pay for? Where do they find inspiration and information?

  • Creating value. What’s your offer? What’s the problem you solve, in your client’s words? Ideally, min. one client paid you, and you have proof that it works for you and them, before you invest into marketing your offer.

Ready?
Now, go and share your message, via the right channel, and see how it connects and converts the right clients.
